The last of the roof tiles


The last of the roof tiles came off today. They are preparing to do the colorbond roofing over the front two rooms.

Ceilings down and plumbing


The ceilings in the two front rooms of the old part of the house (closest to the road) have been removed. Here is a photo showing the old ceiling joists in Sophie's room.











The ceiling joists have been replaced in Lucy's room and extra purlins added.















Rough in (or as Kevin McCloud would say, "first fix") for the plumbing has started. Here is the plumbing for the shower in the ensuite.

Our patch of red


The colorbond roof (manor red is the colour) has been installed over the ensuite and part of the master bedroom on the northern side of the house.












Fascia boards for the edge of the upper roof were installed.

Evens and Beginnings


Temporary stairs were placed from Bedroom 3 (old lounge area) into the loft.






















An old air vent in Bedroom 3 was bricked in.






















More brick work in the recess for the window in the ensuite to bring it up to the correct height.




















The high wall on the southern side of the house went a bit too far east and now has to be cut back so the lower roof can fit.

Our patch of blue


More work was done on installing the roof over the old part of the house. This is a view from the scaffolding on the northern side of the property looking towards the east.

A slow day at the office


After such a flurry of activity of the last week or so, today was a much slower day. Repair of some brickwork in the master bedroom.

Unfortunately yesterday there were a few mistakes with the location of electrical outlets in the kitchen area. The orange word patch and X show the mistakes.

Gable framing over loft






The gable framing over the loft was done today.



























The old plaster in the master bedroom was removed. Hard to imagine but the last time that these walls were exposed like this was about 80 years ago!

Cement Rendering

The heat wave is finally over with a cool change dropping the temperature down by 10C in half an hour yesterday. The tragic news for Sophie yesterday was that the mast on the sailing boat on which she was sailing snapped.
