New ceiling joists

New ceiling joists were installed over the master bedroom and the (old) lounge room in the old part of the house.

Roof coming off

The eastern (back)

half of the roof over the old part of the house is coming off to make way for a new roof.

More carpentry

Another day of carpentry and brick laying. Two brick columns to support the floor of the master bedroom ensuite.

Also the floor of the wet area of the ensuite was laid.

On the other side of the extension the

carpentry for the floor of the loft was started.

Plus some repair work on the northern wall of the old part of the house was undertaken.

Carpentry has started at the site. Today the carpentry for the floor of the walk-in-robe and ensuite for the master bedroom.

More bricks in the house

Today the doorway for the main

bathroom was done in bricks. Also the doorway into the master bedroom was bricked up.

The nib wall in the lounge area of the extension was constructed as well.

Another day of bricks

The brick layers finished the entrance into the laundry from the pantry.

Also the stairs up into the old part of the house from the extension were started.

Brick layers are back again

The brick

layers are back to complete the brick work. Today they worked on the laundry area.

The alcove in the forefront of the picture is for the fridge.

This newly built wall in the spare bedroom (old lounge room) forms part of the loft. On the other side will be the floor of the loft/ceiling of the laundry about two thirds up the wall.

Main Bathroom

The floor of the main bathroom was removed today. The mortar between the bricks of the inner wall under the window cut out (northern wall) is crumbling so that wall will need to be rebuilt.

Recessing of sliding doors

We decided to recess the sliding door frames into the concrete to make them more flush with the concrete floor.

This meant cutting into the concrete. An extra two days of work but it will be worth it.

Manhole & Main Bathroom

The new year has began and the builder is back on the job. Work has started on creating a manhole (in the southern wall) to get under the floor in the old part of the house.

The old main bathroom has also been demolished. The brick layers should be back next week to complete the internal walls of the extension. This should allow the framing to start for the roof.
