Polishing the Slab

Polishing of the slab started today.

After much hard work we have a concrete slab.

Down in the Trenches

Sorry for no updates for the last month. Unfortunately the builder found lots of things in the ground that had to be removed - septic tank, another concrete slab and a tree

stump with branches. To remove took time and money!

At this stage the trenches are done and the formworker

for the slab is a day away from finishing. We hope to have

the slab poured in the middle of next week.

The Earth is Flat

The bobcat has been digging for the last few days.

Got rid of an old slab buried under the old extension.

The surface on which the concrete slab is going to rest on is taking shape.

A New Hallway

Has rained all day but some demolition is going ahead as seen in this photo looking along the main (now wider hallway) from the front to the back of the house.

A shell

Down to a shell now. You can see the lounge room on the left and the master bedroom on the right. A great view from the master bedroom and well ventilated.

There was a big storm on Monday night and unfortunately the roof leaked in one of the front rooms. It has been decided to move our stored stuff out of the front rooms and into a storage facility. Oh joy!

Back to the Future

What a week. A few dramas. (I can hear people saying - "What did you expect? A building project with no dramas!")
On Tuesday the skip driver damaged the neighbours carport. So much so that it had to be knocked down.
On Wednesday we had rain all day which resulted in the two front rooms leaking. These are the rooms that our stuff is stored in.On the positive side the demolition is going well. The house is essentially down to the late 1920s shell.
Working on the window schedule, electrical layout and kitchen design this week.

The kitchen wall is gone. For those who have been to our house you can see our green feature wall with the white trim at the bottom.
