Internal walls

The new internal wall in the old part of the house went up today. This creates the 4th bedroom in the old part of the house.

This is the wall for the storage room.

On top of it will be the walk in robe and ensuite for the master bedroom.

More high windows installed on the southern wall.

Another sliding door frame installed.

More bricks

Over the weekend the brick layers completed the brickwork to join the old and new on the southern wall.

More bricks around the window at the eastern wall.

Also more scaffolding.

Even more brick and window/door action

Even though there was a huge thunderstorm in the middle of the afternoon there was action. The southern wall went higher.

The window in the eastern wall went in and also one of the sliding door frames.

Brick Layers are Back

Today the old main bathroom window was removed.

Part of the southern brick wall went up higher. The laundry window is in. The holes in the brick wall are for the beams of the loft floor.

Scaffolding

This is the final week of the build for the year. Unfortunately not much has happened over the last two weeks - weather and the brick layers at another job. The scaffolding is going up for the carpentry. This photo is looking along the southern wall to the east.

Unfortunately today was a rain day but the sliding doors have arrived.

A week of sun. Amazing. It is great to see so much progress considering our architect said that we have had 1 in 3 as rain/delay days during the build so far.

Work has started on the eastern wall of the extension. That end of the extension is the study.

Another sunny day in Sydney. The southern wall has been extended.

Also the northern wall. You will notice that the steel post has been removed since it was the wrong length. Ooops. New ones have been ordered.

The scaffolding is onsite to take the brick laying to the next level!

Another day of sunshine and brick laying. The retaining wall along the west boundary is going up.

Brick Laying: The Sequel

Despite the threat of rain all day today considerable progress was made. The retaining wall is going up. This wall will connect the old and new parts of the house. In this photo you can also see the start of the cut out for the laundry window.

The steelwork for the build started going up today. You can now start to imagine sliding doors between the posts!

Internal wall and rejuvenated windows

More action on Saturday with the removal of floorboards from the old living area to make way for a new internal wall for the 4th bedroom/rumpus room. This internal wall will also create the corridor from the front of the house to the stairs which go down to the extension.

We also hired a person (great guy named Bruce) to restore the old windows in the house. They now open and close properly!

Bricks a go-go

We have had a lot of rain over the last few weeks but now the slab has cured.

Polishing the Slab

Polishing of the slab started today.
